Description
Trans*historicities explores what it means to be trans* before the modern concepts of gender, sex, and sexuality took shape. By examining historical periods and cultural contexts, this collection challenges traditional notions of time and identity. The contributors draw on diverse fields, including history, queer theory, and art, to create a nuanced understanding of trans* experiences across different eras. Topics range from medieval European saints to early modern Japanese art, highlighting the complexity and variability of gendered systems of embodiment. This volume offers a fresh perspective on trans* studies, historical inquiry, and queer temporality, critiquing traditional approaches while articulating new desires for trans history and queerly temporal forms of narration.
