Description

Tracy 50 Years, 50 Stories is a collection of personal stories from survivors of Cyclone Tracy, which devastated Darwin in 1974. The cyclone left a trail of destruction across the town, killing 66 people and injuring hundreds more. In response to the disaster, nearly 40,000 residents were forced to evacuate, with many leaving by road or air. Despite the trauma they experienced, many survivors chose to return to their hometowns to help rebuild the city. This remarkable collection brings together over 50 stories from those who lived through this event, offering a unique insight into one of Australia's most significant disasters. The stories are a testament to the resilience and courage of those who survived Cyclone Tracy. These personal accounts provide a powerful and moving portrayal of life in Darwin before and after the cyclone, and offer a glimpse into the lives of those who called the city home.
