Description

Titian's Hidden Double Portrait Unveiled After 500 Years For the first time in centuries, a long-lost masterpiece by Titian is on display in Venice. This remarkable painting, A Lady and her Daughter, was created in the early 1550s but was later repainted to conceal its true identity. The story of this enigmatic portrait is one of intrigue and discovery. After the artist's death in 1576, it was transformed into a more saleable image, only to be rediscovered centuries later through an x-ray examination. A painstaking restoration process followed, involving some of the most notable art historians and conservators of the time. This book tells the fascinating story behind Titian's Hidden Double Portrait, shedding new light on one of the most mysterious paintings in history.
