Description
Timm Rautert's "Germans in Uniform" presents a unique perspective on post-war Germany through photographs of public servants and officials in their professional attire. In this expanded English edition, the series is available for the first time, featuring 87 images showcasing individuals from various professions. Rautert's project invites his subjects to sit before a neutral backdrop, where they are photographed with similar framing and perspective, highlighting their characters beyond their uniforms. The book includes the subject's name, age, and profession, as well as personal quotes from conversations during the shoot. This collection creates a complex portrait of post-war Germany, blending elements of sociology, history, and self-portraiture. By examining the interplay between uniformity and personality, Rautert's work continues to resonate with society today.
