Description
Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and his son Domenico Tiepolo were two of the most renowned Venetian artists of the 18th century. This catalogue presents a unique selection of their works from major museum collections in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Italy, and Finland. The exhibition 'Tiepolo - Venice in the North' was organized by the Sinebrychoff Art Museum, Finnish National Gallery, State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, and Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia MUVE. The publication features scholarly articles and focuses on the art of Tiepolo and his son in a Northern European context. The catalogue reveals new insights into the history of collections, provenance, and the latest research on the art of the Tiepolos. It also sheds light on the fascinating story of Domenico Tiepolo's etching collection, including a rare and well-preserved first edition copy belonging to the National Library of Finland.
