Description

Thurgood Marshall was a man who knew how to make his voice heard. As a young boy growing up in Baltimore, he would talk and argue with anyone who would listen. This loud and confident personality served him well as he went on to become a star debater at school and college. As a lawyer, Thurgood Marshall used his skills to challenge the discriminatory laws that were holding back black Americans. He argued cases before the Supreme Court, including one of the most important in American history: Brown v Board of Education. His determination and passion for justice earned him the nickname "Mr. Civil Rights" and made him a leading figure in the civil rights movement. This inspiring picture-book biography brings Thurgood Marshall's remarkable story to life with energy and intensity.
