Thirteen years ago, I lost my daughter and her unborn son to SUDEP. This was the moment my life changed forever. I wrote this book as a way to process my emotions after losing Sam, who had suffered from epilepsy since she was 16. It took me many years to find the words, but eventually, I was able to put my thoughts and feelings into poetry. Sharing it with family and friends helped me realise that it might also help others who have experienced similar loss. Through this book, I hope to raise awareness about SUDEP, a condition that claims approximately 2000 lives every year, yet is often not discussed with those affected or their loved ones.
