Description
Three Years Among the Comanches by Nelson Lee is a remarkable account of survival and escape. In 1850s Texas, Lee was captured by marauding Indians and forced to live with them as a slave for three years.
His story offers a unique glimpse into life in a nomadic Comanche village, including his marriage to a young squaw, buffalo hunts, and conflicts with Apache tribes. Lee's account also includes harrowing descriptions of the treatment of fellow captives who were tortured before him.
A key factor in Lee's survival was a silver alarm clock he possessed, which mystified his superstitious captors and ultimately saved his life. This gripping narrative is a testament to Lee's resilience and determination to escape his captors.
