Description
Three Men in a Boat and Three Men on the Bummel is a humorous tale of three friends' misadventures as they set off on a boat trip. Their journey is filled with unexpected troubles, from tow-ropes to unreliable weather forecasts.
The book was initially met with criticism for its perceived vulgarity, but it has since become a beloved and enduring work of satire. Jerome's writing captured the spirit of his time, particularly among those in the 'clerking classes' who sought escape from the pressures of modern life.
A sequel to the original book, Three Men on the Bummel follows the same trio as they embark on another journey, this time by bicycle. With its witty observations and picaresque storyline, this book continues to entertain readers to this day.
