Description

Thora Hird's Book of Bygones is a nostalgic journey back to a bygone era. In her warm and chatty style, Thora reminisces about words, objects, and expressions that have fallen out of use since the Second World War. She shares humorous stories from her own childhood, recalling domestic life, the theatre, church, growing up before the war, working in shops, and the vibrant atmosphere of a northern seaside town. This collection of anecdotes offers a unique glimpse into a forgotten world. With its lighthearted tone and engaging storytelling, Thora Hird's Book of Bygones is an entertaining read for anyone interested in history, nostalgia, or simply learning about the past through everyday stories.
