Description

Thomas Jefferson Builds a Library tells the story of a young man who discovered his passion for books at an early age. Before, during and after the American Revolution, he collected thousands of volumes on various subjects. His vast collection played a significant role in rebuilding the Library of Congress, now the largest library in the world. Author Barb Rosenstock's rhythmic words bring Jefferson's enthusiasm for reading to life, accompanied by John O'Brien's whimsical illustrations that reveal little-known details about book collecting. The book also includes an author's note, bibliography and source notes for quotations. This engaging biography showcases Jefferson's love of learning and his dedication to preserving knowledge.
