Description
Thirst is a novel that shines a light on the madness and absurdity of war. On a strategic hill overlooking the frontier, Iraqi and Iranian troops battle for access to a water tank, their thirst and desperation driving them to the brink of madness. The story is told in a kaleidoscopic style that weaves between the ongoing battle and the struggles of the writer, who is given a task by his commanding officer to write a fictitious report about a murder in the camp. Meanwhile, an Iranian author writes the same story from his own perspective, interrupted only by memories of his first encounter with a gun. This novel explores the human cost of conflict, maintaining individual identity and humanity in the face of dehumanising circumstances.
