Description
Roger Ballen's photographic work spans decades, and this generously illustrated book offers a comprehensive look at his career. It features photographs selected from across Ballen's body of work, alongside installations created exclusively for an exhibition at the Halle Saint Pierre in Paris. The World According to Roger Ballen also explores Ballen's connections with art brut, a movement that has been a significant influence on his practice. The book is organized thematically, with texts by Colin Rhodes and an introduction and interview with Martine Lusardy, director of the Halle Saint Pierre. This unique combination provides insight into Ballen's place within the wider context of modern and contemporary art. Through its richly detailed content, this book serves as a catalog for the first major exhibition of Ballen's work in France, while also shedding light on his artistic vision and creative process.
