Description
The Vampire, written by John Polidori, was first published in 1819. Initially attributed to Lord Byron, the story was later revealed to be the work of Polidori, who transformed the vampire from a character in folklore into the aristocratic fiend that is recognized today. The tale was an immediate popular success, partly due to the Byron attribution and partly because it exploited the gothic horror predilections of the public. The story was first published in book form in 1819 and has since become a significant work in the horror genre. This edition of The Vampire is a paperback publication, featuring 40 pages of the original text.
