Description
The Triple Folly is a comprehensive three-volume publication that presents the evolution of a unique pavilion conceived by artist Thomas Demand and architects Caruso St John. The building's design was inspired by found paper objects, including a legal pad, a paper plate, and a soda jerk hat, which Demand brought to the architects with the question 'Can you make this into architecture?'. The final structure achieves a harmonious balance of lightness and form through its use of steel and fibreglass. The publication includes Thomas Demand's original development sketchbooks in facsimile across two volumes, alongside images of the completed building and conversations with notable figures from the fields of architecture and art. This three-volume set provides a unique insight into the collaboration between Demand, Caruso St John, and textile makers Kvadrat, offering a fascinating exploration of the intersection of architecture, art, and design.
