Description

The Snow Leopard Project And Other Adventures in Warzone Conservation by Alex Dehgan In postwar Afghanistan, conservation and preservation become a common ground between international teams and local communities. Evolutionary biologist Alex Dehgan arrived in 2006 to build the Wildlife Conservation Society's Afghanistan Program, aiming to protect the country's unique environment after decades of war. Dehgan's team works tirelessly in remote areas, often on foot or by yak, to create the country's first national park and conduct extensive wildlife surveys. Their efforts help stop poaching and restore a part of Afghan identity tied to the land itself. This book chronicles Dehgan's adventures as he navigates the challenges of warzone conservation. Through his experiences, Dehgan sheds light on the intricate relationships between humans and nature in Afghanistan, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage alongside environmental protection.
