Description
Jean Tardieu's poetry offers an immediate and engaging exploration of the world, infused with lively wit and humour. Spanning 80 years of his writing, this selection showcases the poet's remarkable range and versatility. Tardieu's work is notable for its accessibility, studied in both universities and primary schools in France, yet relatively unknown in the English-speaking world. His poetry addresses fundamental concerns of modern literature, while also drawing on his interests in art and music. This collection includes a sequence of poems, Space and the Flute (1958), which Tardieu wrote for drawings by Pablo Picasso, whose poems and drawings are reproduced together in this edition.
