Description

The Psychoanalytic Mystic by Michael Eigen explores the intersection of psychoanalysis and mystical experience. Eigen argues that this connection can enrich our understanding of the therapeutic relationship, where both patient and analyst are immersed in each other's minds and feelings. Eigen draws on the work of key figures such as Bion, Milner, and Winnicott to illustrate his ideas. He also explicitly relates psychoanalysis to faith, highlighting the importance of holding onto a positive expectation for the therapeutic process. This book is a culmination of Eigen's passion for exploring the spiritual dimensions of psychoanalysis. Eigen brings his extensive experience in clinical psychology to this work, having written nineteen books and hundreds of journal papers over the course of his career.
