Description
The PlayStation Dreamworld by Alfie Bown is an analysis of videogames through Lacanian dream theory. It argues that understanding the world of gaming requires this approach, and that the Left should work within this space to construct its desires. This book explores how gaming can produce radical forms of enjoyment that challenge capitalist norms. In a time when entertainment has become ubiquitous, The PlayStation Dreamworld delves into our relationships with all forms of technological entertainment. It dissects the structure of these interactions, revealing how we live inside their digital realities rather than escaping them. This book is not just for dedicated gamers, but for anyone interested in understanding the impact of technology on our lives. By examining videogames through a psychoanalytic lens, The PlayStation Dreamworld offers a unique perspective on the world of gaming and its place within our broader cultural landscape.
