Description
The Parachute Ward tells the story of Major Colin Scott Dafoe's remarkable wartime mission to provide medical aid in Yugoslavia during World War II. In 1944, Dafoe parachuted into eastern Bosnia with a portable "parachute ward" and operated on wounded soldiers and civilians in makeshift hospitals constructed from parachutes.
Dafoe's bravery and determination saved countless lives as he followed the Partisans into the rugged mountains and dense forests. Based on his own account and the reminiscences of those who knew him, this book recounts the saga of a truly remarkable man.
