Description
James MacMillan's life and work are celebrated in this first in-depth look at the composer's life, music, and aesthetic. From his early beginnings to his current position as one of Britain's most prominent composers, this book explores MacMillan's compositional influences over time.
The book delves into MacMillan's most significant works, sets them within a wider context defined by contemporary composition, culture, and the arts, and examines how his strong Catholic faith has influenced his work. With unprecedented access to interviews and previously unpublished materials, this biography provides an appraisal of MacMillan's music as well as insights into what it means to be a prominent composer in the 21st century.
