Description

A gripping and poignant family saga unfolds in this richly complex novel. Marilyn Connolly and David Sorenson's love story, set against the backdrop of the 1970s, is one of blithely ignorant bliss - until their daughters' lives become increasingly entwined with secrets and unrest. As the years pass, each daughter navigates her own struggles: Wendy finds solace in booze and younger men, Violet battles anxiety and self-doubt, Liza grapples with a pregnancy she's not sure she wants, and Grace begins living a lie that no one suspects. The arrival of young Jonah Bendt, placed for adoption fifteen years earlier, forces the Sorensons to confront their past and its lasting impact on their family. As they navigate adolescent angst, infidelity, and resentment, the Sorensons also discover moments of joy that make everything else worthwhile. This powerful exploration of family dynamics, love, and identity is a worthwhile read for anyone who has ever struggled to find their place within a messy, loving family.
