The construction of an opera house on a Sussex estate in 1934 marked a turning point for its creator, who had previously won the Military Cross at the Battle of Loos. The story of how Glyndebourne came to be is one of vision, stubbornness, grit, love and luck that can produce great art. First performed at Hampstead Theatre in 2015, The Moderate Soprano premiered at the Duke of York's Theatre, London, in April 2018.
