Description
The Magi by McDowall is a sheet music composition for SSATB voices, featuring dramatic octatonic melodies and parallel movement in fourths and fifths. The piece was commissioned by the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge and first performed for the BBC Radio 3 Epiphany Carol Service in January 2023. The Magi showcases McDowall's unique musical style, with a propulsive 6/8 metre decorated by duplet and hemiola rhythms. This unaccompanied work is perfect for choirs looking to add a touch of mysticism and drama to their repertoire. This sheet music edition brings the mystical nativity text to life, offering a new way for singers to experience this dramatic and emotive piece.
