Description

The Logical Book: A Supertramp Compendium by Laura Shenton This book explores the musical and writing chemistry that defined Supertramp's unique sound. From their early commercial breakthrough in 1974 to their later successes, including Breakfast In America in 1979, the band navigated the highs and lows of the music industry. The author delves into the band's history, examining the factors that contributed to their success and struggles. A key aspect of Supertramp's sound was the distinct differences between lead vocalist Rick Davies and keyboardist Roger Hodgson. The book documents the band's journey, including local gigs and demanding tours. According to Roger Hodgson, composing is a magical process that allows him to tap into his emotions and create music from inspiration. This book offers an in-depth look at Supertramp's history, their creative process, and the factors that shaped their sound.
