Description
The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams is a beautiful and innovative choral arrangement for violin and mixed choir. Commissioned and premiered by the Swedish Chamber Choir, this work sensitively sets George Meredith's poem to music, combining wordless vocal lines and vocal solos with the original solo violin part. This arrangement preserves the timeless effect of the original orchestration, while also introducing new textures and emotions through the addition of a mixed choir. The result is a unique and captivating sound that showcases the beauty of Vaughan Williams' music. Recorded by the Swedish Chamber Choir under the direction of Simon Phipps, this edition of The Lark Ascending offers a fresh perspective on a beloved work.
