Description
The Jewish Gospels: The Story of the Jewish Christ by Daniel Boyarin
This groundbreaking work challenges conventional understandings of Jesus and the origins of Christianity, arguing that the coming of the Messiah was fully imagined in ancient Jewish texts.
Boyarin's scrupulously illustrated account shows that Jesus and his followers were simply Jewish, and that their core teachings were not a break from Jewish beliefs and teachings. A powerful case is made for reevaluating our assumptions about the history of Christianity.
