Description

The Internet of Things: A Guide to the Networked World. This revised and updated edition explores the rapidly evolving networked world of connected devices, objects, and people that is changing the way we live and work. Since its original publication, the Internet of Things (IoT) has become a mainstream technology framework, transforming daily life with smart devices such as lightbulbs, sensors in phones, and augmented reality fitting rooms. Samuel Greengard delves into the technology behind the IoT, examining consumer devices like smart door locks and 3D headsets that connect users to virtual reality environments. He also discusses the growing array of applications, from smart manufacturing to end-to-end supply chain visibility, as well as the risks associated with the IoT, including threats to free speech and cybercrime. The book concludes by looking at the future of a hyperconnected world and its implications for human interaction.
