Description
The Good Representative by Suzanne Dovi offers a thought-provoking analysis of democratic representation. The author argues that citizens should evaluate their representatives based on three key virtues: fairness, critical trust, and effective gatekeeping.
This timely and original book challenges the assumption that neutrality in representative selection is equivalent to respect for citizen preferences. Instead, it identifies problems with good democratic representation and provides standards for evaluating a representative's credentials.
For those interested in understanding the complexities of democratic representation, The Good Representative is a valuable resource. It offers a nuanced perspective on the challenges of representing citizens effectively and the importance of critical evaluation in this process.
