Description

The Gnostic Scriptures, Second Edition A comprehensive introduction to the theology, religious atmosphere, and literary traditions of ancient Christianity and Hellenistic Judaism. This second edition of the definitive collection provides authoritative translations of extra-biblical scriptures from Greek, Latin, and Coptic, along with introductions, bibliographies, and annotations. The texts are organized chronologically, reflecting the history of gnosticism in the second through fourth centuries CE. The addition of three new ancient texts, including the recently discovered Gospel of Judas, enhances our understanding of this complex and fascinating period in religious history.
