The hoard has been saved for the nation through a large fundraising campaign, providing an unprecedented opportunity to research and reveal many lost aspects of the Viking Age. The accompanying book offers a detailed look at the treasure and its significance, as well as insights into the conservation and research work currently being undertaken to understand this fascinating find. The Galloway Hoard will be showcased in a special exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland from 29 May to 12 September 2021, before touring to Kirkcudbright Galleries, Aberdeen Archives.
