Description

The Domestic Plane: Exploring Intimate Tabletop Art Objects This comprehensive catalog documents five interconnected exhibitions at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, featuring over 70 artists and hundreds of small-scale works. The Domestic Plane sheds new light on the relationship between objects, domestic space, human body, and behavior. Extensively illustrated with artworks from renowned artists such as Janine Antoni, Anthony Caro, Melvin Edwards, and many others, this catalog also includes new texts by curators and artists that introduce each exhibition and explore the significance of small-scale art objects. The publication features a unique eight-page project by graphic novelist Richard McGuire, sequential grids of 128 line drawings depicting the interrelationship of small objects. With contributions from leading experts in the field, The Domestic Plane is an essential resource for anyone interested in contemporary art, design, and the human experience.
