Description

The Decision of Desire by Silvia Lippi offers a unique reimagining of Lacan's theory of desire and its complex relationships with masochism, joy, mysticism, death, and feminine jouissance. This thought-provoking work engages with the ideas of various thinkers, including surrealists, philosophers, and canonical writers.

Lippi proposes that we can seek out a new understanding of our relationship to desire, one that allows us to detach from its destructive forms in favour of joy and affirmation. By exploring this idea, she provides insight into psychoanalytic theory for both lay readers and practicing psychoanalysts.
