Description

The Cricket Match by Ewart Rouse is an updated version of Watkins at Bat, with new material. A season ago, Jamaica's Rebels Cricket Club failed to turn up for their league finals against Fernwood Cricket Club, handing Fernwood the points. This year, the city-based Jamaicans are out to give the suburban-based Fernwood a beating they'll never forget. However, as in any sporting contest, the best team doesn't always win. In this particular match, it's unlikely that Jamaica will emerge victorious, with Fernwood leader Freddie Watkins returning from retirement to play for his team. This decision comes at a personal cost, threatening the stability of his marriage. A bonus feature of this book is an account of Freddie Watkins' ill-fated overseas club tour of Jamaica.
