Description

The Cosmos in Cosmopolitanism by Nikos Papastergiadis explores how visual artists are redefining our understanding of cosmopolitanism. Building on Kant's idea of peaceful co-existence, this book examines the connection between the cosmos and the polis, highlighting the importance of a shared human experience in the face of existential threats. Scholars from diverse backgrounds are decolonizing traditional perspectives and using art to address pressing global issues. Papastergiadis argues that aesthetic cosmopolitanism is vital for rethinking our place within the universe. By exploring this new vision, readers can gain insight into the ways we can work together as a species. This book offers a fresh perspective on cosmopolitanism, one that emphasizes the interconnectedness of humanity and our shared existence in the cosmos.
