Description
Paul Muldoon's latest work brings together poetry and art in an imaginative collaboration with American painter Philip Pearlstein. Sparkling new sequences of poems accompany lively watercolours, mostly depicting terra cotta objects from various ancient cultures. The project began when Paul Muldoon first approached Philip Pearlstein about a collaborative effort, unaware that the artist was already creating pieces featuring his artefacts and bric-à-brac collections. The result is a unique juxtaposition of art and poetry, with each piece offering its own interpretation of the concept of hodgepodge. The book features an introduction by Paul Muldoon, in which he sets the scene for their collaboration and explains how he sought to respond to Pearlstein's watercolors without being too literal.
