Description
The C.S.S. Florida: Her Building and Operations is a detailed account of the Confederate commerce raider that caused significant damage to the Union's merchant marine fleet during the American Civil War. The ship, which was outfitted with a crew of skilled sailors, embarked on a series of daring exploits against American shipping, resulting in the capture and destruction of over $4 million worth of commerce. This achievement was notable for its duration, as the Florida's life was short but effective. A new introduction and revised bibliography by the author provide additional context to this significant chapter in naval history, offering insights into the ship's operations and the impact it had on the outcome of the war.
