This collection brings together scattered publications from around the world, including complete texts from White Subway, Cobblestone Gardens, and The Retreat Diaries. These writings provide insight into Burroughs' comprehensive worldview and his perception of America's underside. The book also includes essays by Alan Ansen and Paul Bowles, as well as facsimile pages from mid-century cut-up scrapbooks such as The Book of Hours and John Brady's Book.
