Description
Richard Mardick's life was marked by solitude until he met Lucy. Their love affair took place in secret, amidst the disused brickfield. Tragedy struck when Lucy drowned in a muddy pool there. Years later, Richard recounts this episode to his secretary, revealing its lasting impact on his life. The Brickfield is a poignant and introspective novel that explores the complexities of childhood and its influence on adulthood. The story is presented in an unusual framework, weaving together past events with the present in a masterful narrative. This novel offers a powerful exploration of love, loss, and the human experience, set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Lincolnshire Fens.
