Description
The Boy and the Bomber by Francois Ydier On June 8th, 1944, a Lancaster bomber was shot down over France, leaving behind seven airmen and those who risked their lives to help them evade capture. The event had a profound impact on the local community, and its effects are still remembered today. Francois Ydier, who lived near the crash site as a child, spent years tracing the stories of those involved in the incident. He has pieced together the individual accounts of the airmen and the brave French citizens who helped them, including members of the famous Comet Line. Their bravery came at great cost, but their story is one of incredible heroism and fortitude. This book tells the moving true story of the aftermath of a tragic event in World War II, and the people who risked everything to help those affected.
