Description

The Bible Now by Richard Elliott Friedman and Shawna Dolansky explores how the Hebrew Bible is often misunderstood, misquoted, mistranslated, and misused in contemporary debates. The authors carefully examine passages such as those related to homosexuality and abortion, revealing that they do not offer clear-cut answers on these issues. By shedding new light on these and other topics, Friedman and Dolansky show how the Bible can be used both positively and negatively throughout history. This book aims to help readers understand the complexities of the biblical text and its relevance to modern concerns. Ultimately, The Bible Now encourages a nuanced approach to using the ancient source of wisdom in addressing pressing issues today.
