Description
The American Philosopher: Conversations with Leading American Philosophers This collection of conversations explores the current state of American philosophy, featuring discussions between prominent thinkers on the changing character of their discipline. Giovanna Borradori's substantial introduction provides historical context, tracing the development of analytic philosophy in America and its relationship to European thought. The book delves into the opposition between analytic and continental thought, examining how recent American work has sought to bridge the gap between these traditions. Through informal conversations, participants share their intellectual development and engage with each other's ideas, offering insights into the evolution of American philosophy over the past few decades. By exploring the tensions and connections between different philosophical approaches, The American Philosopher offers a nuanced understanding of the discipline's current debates and its place within the broader landscape of Western thought.
