Description
The Abbot's Return to Earth by David Bird is a humorous tale about a bridge player's struggles with everyday life. After returning from his heroics in the Chennai Bermuda Bowl, the Abbot finds it difficult to adjust to life back at the monastery. He faces familiar challenges and frustrations as he plays matches against various opponents. The Abbot's visit to the Convent of Hilda's is particularly notable, where he encounters a strict and severe Mother of Discipline. Later, his partner from Chennai arrives, bringing an unexpected and outspoken presence to the bridge table. This book offers a lighthearted look at the world of competitive bridge and the people who play it.
