Description

Target Saigon 1973-75 Volume 3 - Disaster at Da Nang 1975 by Albert Grandolini The final communist offensive against South Vietnam was marked by a series of catastrophic events, including the evacuation of Hue and Da Nang. The decision to abandon nearly half of the country had far-reaching consequences, leading to the complete collapse of the South Vietnamese government. This volume details the disastrous evacuation of these cities, as well as the delaying fighting in the central coastal area. The situation spiralled out of control, with the United States failing to intervene despite the growing crisis. The new government, led by a neutralist president, ultimately accepted an unconditional surrender, sparing the city from the horrors of street fighting. The evacuation of Saigon was carried out under intense pressure, with the last Americans and westerners being airlifted out by helicopter. This volume is supported by a large number of previously unpublished photographs, color maps, and color profiles showing camouflage and markings of tanks and aircraft.
