Description

T. S. Eliot A Short Biography by John Worthen offers a sympathetic study of one of the 20th century's most complex writers. This biography sets out to free Eliot from distortions and misconceptions, revealing a more nuanced understanding of his life and work. Worthen draws on extensive research to provide a balanced portrayal of Eliot's first marriage, as well as his poetry, which he shows can be read for its insights into the poet's inner world. Eliot himself described his poems as epitaphs, commemorating experiences that would not lie down and die - a theme that is explored in depth by Worthen. By shedding new light on Eliot's life and work, this biography provides a fresh perspective on one of literature's most fascinating figures.
