Description

Suellen Rocca: A Monograph of Pictographic Imagery This book presents the first comprehensive overview of Chicago-based artist Suellen Rocca's work from 1964 to 1969. Featuring over 50 full-color artworks, including paintings, drawings, and prints, this volume showcases Rocca's unique vocabulary of pictographic imagery inspired by consumer catalogues, magazine advertisements, and children's activity books. An essay by Dan Nadel provides a thorough analysis of Rocca's artistic development, while Sarah Lehrer-Graiwer's essay explores the thematic undercurrents in her work. The book also includes a bibliography, narrative chronology of Rocca's life, and historical photographs and ephemera from her archive. With its unique blend of art historical analysis and visual presentation, this monograph offers a fascinating insight into the artistic career of Suellen Rocca.
