Description
A collection of plant portraits gathered during regular lunchtime walks in and around Truro's rural-urban fringe. One hundred photographic specimens form a unique homage to Victorian botany, showcasing the beauty of the natural world in the City of Truro. The photographs are not just records of nature, but also reflect on the layers of human history that shape our landscapes. The book is accompanied by a foreword and an essay that place the work within its historical context and explore the role of photography in documenting time and change. William Arnold's Suburban Herbarium is a thoughtful exploration of the relationship between humans and nature, and the ways in which we document and interpret the world around us.
