Description
Theodore Roethke's notebooks reveal a poet whose mind roamed freely, from the practical to the sublime. Within these 277 spiral notebooks, fragments of poetry, aphorisms, and random phrases coexist with commentary and journal entries. Fellow poet David Wagoner has distilled this material into a collection that showcases Roethke as one of America's most phenomenal creative sources in poetry. The result is an energetic and wise work that offers insight into the mind of a master poet. The notebooks themselves are a testament to Roethke's unique approach to writing, where the boundaries between thought and art blur. This collection provides a unique glimpse into Roethke's inner world, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in American poetry. Covered with artwork by Ted Kooser, this edition of Theodore Roethke's notebooks is a must-have for fans of poetry and literature.
