Description
Strange Cargo: Essays on Art is a collection of forty essays by Ashraf Jamal that celebrate the rich complexity of South African artists in a global imaginary.
The essays bring together artists old and young, famous and relatively unknown, black and white, trending and not, all united by Jamal's love and empathy. This book does not fit into a predictive algorithm; instead, it writes for both the moment we are in and for readers to come.
By exploring the work of these diverse artists, Strange Cargo offers a nuanced understanding of the South African art scene and its place within the global art world.
