Description
Set in the mid 1970s, Stoneburner is a hard-boiled detective story about a private eye who has abandoned his office in Memphis to live on the banks of the Tennessee River. He is approached by a local retired sheriff who has run through his money on ill-conceived business plans and is now desperate to recoup his losses.
The sheriff's plans have gone wrong, and his young girlfriend has gone missing along with a large sum of money. The sheriff asks the private eye to find both the money and the girl, who has been taken by a redneck Vietnam vet named Thibodeaux. Thibodeaux and the girl are on the run, leaving a trail of clues across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
The private eye must navigate a complex web of crime and corruption to track down Thibodeaux and recover the stolen money. But he is not the only one on the trail - a local Nashville music producer who supplies the cocaine is also after Thibodeaux and the girl.
